Accessibility statement for Studentship Data

This accessibility statement applies to content published on the Studentship Data domain.

This website is run by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate the service using just a keyboard
  • navigate the service using speech recognition software
  • listen to the service using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the system text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • filters and selects don’t always behave predictably when using a keyboard
  • search results lack a mechanism to bypass blocks of content
  • focusable components within a filter don’t receive focus in an order that preserves meaning and operability
  • page number links are non-functional and non-compliant on our ‘manage users’ page
  • the structure of web content makes use of inappropriate semantic elements
  • requirements for some form fields are not conveyed to users of assistive technology
  • our ‘manage users’ page fails to reflow within the viewport

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

UKRI is committed to making this service accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Filters and selectable options don’t always behave predictably when using a keyboard. Specifically, use of the return key can cause the page to reload without a filter or selected option being applied. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.2.2 (on input).

Search results on the ‘studentship records’ page lack a mechanism to bypass blocks of content (for example, a ‘skip to filter’ option). This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.1 (bypass blocks).

Focusable components within the filter on the ‘studentship records’ page don’t receive focus in an order that preserves meaning and operability. Specifically, the ‘apply filter’ button is only available at the start of the filter. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.3 (focus order).

Page number links are non-functional and non-compliant on our ‘manage users’ page. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships) and 2.4.4 (link purpose (in context)).

The structure of web content makes use of inappropriate semantic elements. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships).

Requirements for some form fields are not conveyed to users of assistive technology. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships) and 4.1.2 (name, role, value).

Our ‘manage users’ page fails to reflow within the viewport. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.10 (reflow).

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are working to fix content which fails to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 10 November 2025. It was last reviewed on 10 November 2025.

This website was last tested on 6 November 2025 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard. The test was carried out by colleagues within UKRI.

As we continue to develop Studentship Data and its content, we will re-audit and test the system for accessibility on a regular basis.
